Turkey Tuesday

T hat Thanksgiving turkey is going to have to come from Pioneer Market this year as La Conner town leaders send the message that the local town turkeys are not for hunting. The ordinance being voted on Tuesday also bans the use of firearms and dangerous weapons in town. Personally I think this is a great move, and it’s really too bad that someone had to kill a Turkey and force the towns hand, you’d think this would be one of those unwritten rules that people would just know better than to break. I know when I cruise through La Conner on my way to Nell Thorn (one of my favorite places to have a glass of wine) I love seeing the Turkeys wandering through town and am glad they are here to stay.
